"I am the door of the sheep" 

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To John (10, 1-10) 

At that time Jesus said: "Amen, amen, I say to you: he who enters the sheep pen without going through the door, but who climbs by another place, he is a thief and a bandit. The one who enters by the door is the shepherd, the shepherd of the sheep. The porter opens the door for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. His own sheep he calls each by name, and he brings them out. When he has pushed out all of his, he walks at their head, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. They will never follow a stranger, but they will run away from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers. "

Jesus used this image to address the Pharisees, but they did not understand what he was talking about to them. This is why Jesus spoke again: “Amen, amen, I say to you: I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and bandits; but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters through me, he will be saved; he will be able to enter; he can go out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal, kill, destroy. I have come so that the sheep may have life, life in abundance. "

“So therefore, even to the nations, God has given the conversion which brings into life! " 

A Reading from the book of Acts of the Apostles (11, 1-18) 

In those days the Apostles and the brethren who were in Judea had learned that the nations, too, had received the word of God. When Peter returned to Jerusalem, those who were originally Jewish took him to task, saying: "You entered the house of men who are not circumcised, and you ate with them!" Then Peter took up the matter from the beginning and told them everything in order, saying: "I was in the city of Jaffa, praying, and this is the vision I had in an ecstasy: it was an object which descended. It looked like a large canvas held at the four corners; coming from the sky, it landed near me. Fixing my eyes on her, I examined her and saw the quadrupeds of the earth, the wild beasts, the reptiles and the birds of the air. I heard a voice saying to me: “Get up, Peter, offer them as a sacrifice, and eat! ” I replied: “Certainly not, Lord! Never has any forbidden or unclean food entered my mouth. ” A second time from heaven the voice answered: "What God has declared pure, you do not declare it forbidden." It happened three times, then it all went back to heaven. And behold, at that very moment, in front of the house where I was, three men came up who had been sent to me from Caesarea. The Spirit told me to go with them without hesitation. The six brethren that's here with me, and we went into Centurion Cornelius. He told us how he saw the angel standing in his house and saying, “Send someone to Jaffa to look for Simon nicknamed Peter. He will speak to you words by which you will be saved, you and all your house. As I spoke, the Holy Spirit descended on those who were there, as he had come on us in the beginning. Then I remembered the word that the Lord had said: “John baptized with water, but you, it is in the Holy Spirit that you will be baptized.” And if God gave them the same gift as we did, because they believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to prevent God's action? "Hearing these words, they calmed down and they gave glory to God, saying:" So therefore, even to the nations, God has given the conversion which brings into life! நற்செய்தி வாசகம் 

நல்ல ஆயர் ஆடுகளுக்காகத் தம் உயிரைக் கொடுப்பார். 

✠ யோவான் எழுதிய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 10: 11-18 

அக்காலத்தில் 

இயேசு கூறியது: “நல்ல ஆயன் நானே. நல்ல ஆயர் ஆடுகளுக்காகத் தம் உயிரைக் கொடுப்பார். கூலிக்கு மேய்ப்பவர் ஓநாய் வருவதைக் கண்டு ஆடுகளை விட்டுவிட்டு ஓடிப்போவார். ஏனெனில் அவர் ஆயரும் அல்ல; ஆடுகள் அவருக்குச் சொந்தமும் அல்ல. ஓநாய் ஆடுகளைப் பற்றி இழுத்துக் கொண்டுபோய் மந்தையைச் சிதறடிக்கும். கூலிக்கு மேய்ப்பவருக்கு ஆடுகளைப்பற்றிக் கவலை இல்லை. 

நல்ல ஆயன் நானே. தந்தை என்னை அறிந்திருக்கிறார்; நானும் தந்தையை அறிந்திருக்கிறேன். அதுபோல நானும் என் ஆடுகளை அறிந்திருக்கிறேன்; என் ஆடுகளும் என்னை அறிந்திருக்கின்றன. அவைகளுக்காக எனது உயிரைக் கொடுக்கிறேன். இக்கொட்டிலைச் சேரா வேறு ஆடுகளும் எனக்கு உள்ளன. நான் அவற்றையும் நடத்திச் செல்ல வேண்டும். அவையும் எனது குரலுக்குச் செவிசாய்க்கும். அப்போது ஒரே மந்தையும் ஒரே ஆயரும் என்னும் நிலை ஏற்படும். தந்தை என்மீது அன்பு செலுத்துகிறார். ஏனெனில் நான் என் உயிரைக் கொடுக்கிறேன்; அதை மீண்டும் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளவே கொடுக்கிறேன். 

என் உயிரை என்னிடமிருந்து யாரும் பறித்துக்கொள்வதில்லை. நானாகவே அதைக் கொடுக்கிறேன். உயிரைக் கொடுக்கவும் எனக்கு அதிகாரம் உண்டு; அதை மீண்டும் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளவும் அதிகாரம் உண்டு. என் தந்தையின் கட்டளைப்படியே நான் இப்படிச் செய்கிறேன்” என்றார்.

கடவுள் இருப்பதுபோல் அவரைக் காண்போம். 

திருத்தூதர் யோவான் எழுதிய முதல் திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 3: 1-2 

அன்பிற்குரியவர்களே, 

நம் தந்தை நம்மிடம் எத்துணை அன்பு கொண்டுள்ளார் என்று பாருங்கள். நாம் கடவுளின் மக்களென அழைக்கப்படுகிறோம்; கடவுளின் மக்களாகவே இருக்கிறோம். உலகம் அவரை அறிந்துகொள்ளாததால்தான் நம்மையும் அறிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை. என் அன்பார்ந்தவர்களே, இப்போது நாம் கடவுளின் பிள்ளைகளாய் இருக்கிறோம். இனி எத்தன்மையராய் இருப்போம் என்பது இன்னும் வெளிப்படவில்லை. ஆனால் அவர் தோன்றும்போது நாமும் அவரைப்போல் இருப்போம்; ஏனெனில் அவர் இருப்பதுபோல் அவரைக் காண்போம்.

"The good shepherd gives his life for his sheep" 

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To John (10, 11-18) 

At that time, Jesus declared: “I am the good shepherd, the true shepherd, who gives his life for his sheep. The hired shepherd is not the shepherd, the sheep are not his: if he sees the wolf coming, he forsakes the sheep and flees; the wolf grabs them and scatters them. This shepherd is just a hireling, and the sheep don't really matter to him. I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep, and my sheep know me, as the Father knows me, and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for my sheep. I still have other sheep, which are not from this enclosure: these too, I must lead them. They will listen to my voice: there will be one flock and one shepherd. This is why the Father loves me: because I give my life, to receive it again. No one can take it away from me: I give it of myself. I have the power to give it, I also have the power to receive it again: this is the commandment that I received from my Father. "

A Reading from the first letter of Saint John (3, 1-2) 

Beloved, see what great love the Father has given us to be called children of God - and we are. This is why the world does not know us: it is because it did not know God. Beloved, from now on we are children of God, but what we will be has not yet been manifested. We know it: when it is manifested, we will be like him because we will see him as he is.

"In none other than him, there is no salvation" 

A Reading from the book of Acts of the Apostles (4, 8-12) 

In those days, Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, declared: “Rulers of the people and elders, we are questioned today for having done good to a cripple, and we are asked how this man was. Safe. Know this therefore, all of you and all the people of Israel: it is by the name of Jesus the Nazarene, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, it is through him that this man is there in front of you, well. This Jesus is the stone despised by you, the builders, but has become the cornerstone. In none other than him there is salvation, for under heaven no other name is given to men that can save us. "
