A mystery hidden for generations has been revealed to God's saints

A Reading from the Letter of St. Paul to the Colossians 1: 24-28

It makes me happy to suffer for you, as I am suffering now, and in my own body to do what I can to make up all that has still to be undergone by Christ for the sake of his body, the Church. I became the servant of the Church when God made me responsible for delivering God’s message to you, the message which was a mystery hidden for generations and centuries and has now been revealed to his saints. It was God’s purpose to reveal it to them and to show all the rich glory of this mystery to pagans. The mystery is Christ among you, your hope of glory: this is the Christ we proclaim, this is the wisdom in which we thoroughly train everyone and instruct everyone, to make them all perfect in Christ.

The just will live in the presence of the Lord.

Lord, who shall dwell on your holy mountain?

He who walks without fault;

he who acts with justice

and speaks the truth from his heart;

he who does not slander with his tongue.

The just will live in the presence of the Lord.

He who does no wrong to his brother,

who casts no slur on his neighbour,

who holds the godless in disdain,

but honours those who fear the Lord.

The just will live in the presence of the Lord.

He who keeps his pledge, come what may;

who takes no interest on a loan

and accepts no bribes against the innocent.

Such a man will stand firm for ever.

இறைவாக்கினர் கூறியது நிறைவேறும்படி, தம்மை வெளிப்படுத்த வேண்டாம் என்று அவர்களுக்குக் கற்பித்தார்.

மத்தேயு எழுதிய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 12: 14-21

அக்காலத்தில்

பரிசேயரோ வெளியேறி இயேசுவை எப்படி ஒழிக்கலாம் என அவருக்கு எதிராகச் சூழ்ச்சி செய்தனர்.

இயேசு அதை அறிந்து அங்கிருந்து புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றார். பலர் அவருக்குப்பின் சென்றனர். அவர்கள் எல்லாரையும் அவர் குணமாக்கினார். தம்மைக் குறித்து வெளிப்படையாகப் பேச வேண்டாம் என அவர்களிடம் அவர் கண்டிப்பாகச் சொன்னார். இறைவாக்கினராகிய எசாயா உரைத்த பின்வரும் வாக்குகள் இவ்வாறு நிறைவேறின:

“இதோ என் ஊழியர்; இவர் நான் தேர்ந்து கொண்டவர். இவரே என் அன்பர்; இவரால் என் நெஞ்சம் பூரிப்படைகிறது; இவருள் என் ஆவி தங்கும்படி செய்தேன்; இவர் மக்களினங்களுக்கு நீதியை அறிவிப்பார். இவர் சண்டை சச்சரவு செய்ய மாட்டார்; கூக்குரலிட மாட்டார்; தம் குரலைத் தெருவில் எழுப்பவுமாட்டார்; நீதியை வெற்றிபெறச் செய்யும்வரை, நெரிந்த நாணலை முறியார்; புகையும் திரியை அணையார். எல்லா மக்களினங்களும் இவர் பெயரில் நம்பிக்கை கொள்வர்.”

அல்லேலூயா, அல்லேலூயா! கடவுள் கிறிஸ்துவின் வாயிலாக உலகினரைத் தம்மோடு ஒப்புரவாக்கினார். அவரே அந்த ஒப்புரவுச் செய்தியை எங்களிடம் ஒப்படைத்தார். அல்லேலூயா.

எகிப்து நாட்டினின்று இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களை வெளியேறச் செய்தபோது ஆண்டவர் விழித்திருந்த இரவு இதுவே!

விடுதலைப் பயண நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 12: 37-42

அந்நாள்களில்

இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் இராம்சேசிலிருந்து சுக்கோத்துக்கு இடம் பெயர்ந்து சென்றனர். இவர்களில் குழந்தைகள் தவிர நடந்து செல்லக்கூடிய ஆடவர் மட்டும் ஏறத்தாழ ஆறு லட்சம் பேர் ஆவர். மேலும் அவர்களோடு பல இனப் பெருந்திரளும், ஆட்டு மந்தை, மாட்டு மந்தை என்று பெருந் தொகையான கால்நடைகளும் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றன. எகிப்திலிருந்து கொண்டு வந்த பிசைந்த மாவைக் கொண்டு அவர்கள் சுட்டது புளிப்பற்ற அப்பங்கள். ஏனெனில் மாவு இன்னும் புளிக்காமல் இருந்தது. அவர்கள் எகிப்திலிருந்து துரத்தப்பட்டதாலும், சற்றும் தாமதம் செய்ய இயலாமற் போனதாலும் தங்களுக்கென வழியுணவு தயாரித்து வைத்திருக்கவில்லை!

எகிப்தில் குடியிருந்த இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் அங்கு வாழ்ந்த காலம் நானூற்று முப்பது ஆண்டுகள்! நானூற்று முப்பதாம் ஆண்டு முடிவு பெற்ற அதே நாளில் ஆண்டவரின் படைத்திரள் எல்லாம் எகிப்து நாட்டினின்று வெளியேறியது. எகிப்து நாட்டினின்று அவர்களை வெளியேறச் செய்தபோது ஆண்டவர் விழித்திருந்த இரவு இதுவே! தலைமுறை தோறும் இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் அனைவரும் ஆண்டவருக்கென்று திருவிழிப்பு கொண்டாட வேண்டிய இரவும் இதுவே.

He cured them all but warned them not to make him known.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Matthew 12: 14-21

The Pharisees went out and began to plot against Jesus, discussing how to destroy him.

Jesus knew this and withdrew from the district. Many followed him and he cured them all, but warned them not to make him known. This was to fulfil the prophecy of Isaiah:

Here is my servant whom I have chosen,

my beloved, the favourite of my soul.

I will endow him with my spirit,

and he will proclaim the true faith to the nations.

He will not brawl or shout,

nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets.

He will not break the crushed reed,

nor put out the smouldering wick

till he has led the truth to victory:

in his name the nations will put their hope.
