April 2nd : Second Reading Every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are proclaiming the death of the Lord A Reading from the First Letter of St.Paul to the Corinthians 11: 23-26

 April 2nd  :  Second Reading

Every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are proclaiming the death of the Lord

A Reading from the First Letter of St.Paul to the Corinthians 11: 23-26

Brethren: I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the chalice, after supper, saying, “This chalice is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the chalice, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

The Word of the Lord.

Verse before the Gospel

V. Glory and praise to you, O Christ.

R. Glory and praise to you, O Christ.

V. A new commandment I give to you, says the Lord, that you love one another: just as I have loved you.

R. Glory and praise to you, O Christ.

Psalm 116:12–13, 15 and 16bc, 17–18 (R. see 1 Corinthians 10:16)

Response : The cup of blessing is a participation in the blood of Christ.

How can I repay the Lord for all his goodness to me? The cup of salvation I will raise; I will call on the name of the Lord.

R.: The cup of blessing is a participation in the blood of Christ.

How precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of his faithful. your servant am I, the son of your handmaid; you have loosened my bonds.

R.: The cup of blessing is a participation in the blood of Christ.

A thanksgiving sacrifice I make; I will call on the name of the Lord. My vows to the Lord I will fulfil before all his people.

R.: The cup of blessing is a participation in the blood of Christ.

 April 2nd : First Reading

The Passover is a day of festival for all generations, for ever
A Reading from the Book of Exodus 12:1-8,11-14
In those days: The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, “This month shall be for you the beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year for you. Tell all the congregation of Israel that on the tenth day of this month every man shall take a lamb according to their fathers’ houses, a lamb for a household. And if the household is too small for a lamb, then he and his nearest neighbour shall take according to the number of persons; according to what each can eat you shall make your count for the lamb. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats, and you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month, when the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill their lambs at twilight. Then they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses in which they eat it. They shall eat the flesh that night, roasted on the fire; with unleavened bread and bitter herbs they shall eat it. In this manner you shall eat it: with your belt fastened, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. And you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord’s Passover. For I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am the Lord. The blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt. This day shall be for you a memorial day, and you shall keep it as a feast to the Lord; throughout your generations, as a statute for ever, you shall keep it as a feast.”

April 1st : Gospel 'The Son of Man is going to his fate, as the scriptures say he will' A Feading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Matthew 26:14-25

 April 1st :  Gospel

'The Son of Man is going to his fate, as the scriptures say he will'

A Feading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Matthew 26:14-25

At that time: One of the twelve, whose name was Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, “What will you give me if I deliver him over to you?” And they paid him thirty pieces of silver. And from that moment he sought an opportunity to betray him. Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Where would you have us prepare for you to eat the Passover?” He said, “Go into the city to a certain man and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, My time is at hand. I will keep the Passover at your house with my disciples.’” And the disciples did as Jesus had directed them, and they prepared the Passover. When it was evening, he reclined at table with the twelve. And as they were eating, he said, “Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.” And they were very sorrowful and began to say to him one after another, “Is it I, Lord?” He answered, “He who has dipped his hand in the dish with me will betray me. The Son of Man goes as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born.” Judas, who would betray him, answered, “Is it I, Rabbi?” He said to him, “You have said so.”

April 1st : Responsorial Psalm Psalm 69:8–10, 21–22, 31 and 33–34 (R. 14c, b)

 April 1st :  Responsorial Psalm

Psalm 69:8–10, 21–22, 31 and 33–34 (R. 14c, b)

Response : In your great mercy, answer me, O Lord, for a time of your favour.

It is for you that I suffer taunts, that shame has covered my face. To my own kin I have become an outcast, a stranger to the children of my mother. Zeal for your house consumes me, and taunts against you fall on me.

R.: In your great mercy, answer me, O Lord, for a time of your favour.

Taunts have broken my heart; here I am in anguish. I looked for solace, but there was none; for consolers—not one could I find. For food they gave me gall; in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

R.: In your great mercy, answer me, O Lord, for a time of your favour.

Then I will praise God’s name with a song; I will glorify him with thanksgiving: The poor when they see it will be glad, and God-seeking hearts will revive; for the Lord listens to the needy, and does not spurn his own in their chains.

R.: In your great mercy, answer me, O Lord, for a time of your favour.

Verse before the Gospel

V. Glory and praise to you, O Christ.

R. Glory and praise to you, O Christ.

V. Hail to you, our King; you alone are compassionate with our faults.

R Glory and praise to you, O Christ.

April 1st : First Reading Who thinks he has a case against me? Let him approach me A Reading from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah 50: 4-9

 April 1st :  First Reading

Who thinks he has a case against me? Let him approach me

A Reading from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah 50: 4-9

The Lord God has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him who is weary. Morning by morning he awakens; he awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught. The Lord God has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious; I turned not backwards. I gave my back to those who strike, and my cheeks to those who pull out the beard; I hid not my face from disgrace and spitting. But the Lord God helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame. He who vindicates me is near. Who will contend with me? Let us stand up together. Who is my adversary? Let him come near to me. Behold, the Lord God helps me; who will declare me guilty?
