"This poor widow has put in the Treasury more than all the others" 

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To Mark (12, 38-44) 

At that time, in his teaching, Jesus said: "Beware of the scribes, who make a point of walking around in ceremonial clothes and who like greetings in public places, seats of honor in synagogues, and places of honor at dinners. They devour the goods of widows and, for the sake of appearance, they make long prayers: they will be all the more severely judged. "

Jesus sat in the Temple in front of the treasure room, and watched how the crowd put money there. Many rich people put large sums into it. A poor widow stepped forward and put in two small coins. Jesus called his disciples and said to them: “Truly, I say to you: this poor widow has put in the treasury more than all the others. Because they all took from their superfluity, but she took from her poverty: she put everything she had, everything she had to live on. "
