"There is no command greater than these" 

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To Mark (12, 28b-34) 

At that time a scribe came forward to ask Jesus, "Which is the first of all the commandments?" "Jesus answered him this way:" Here is the first one: Hear, Israel: the Lord our God is the only Lord. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. And here is the second: You will love your neighbor as yourself. There is no greater command than these. "The scribe continued:" Very well, Master, you said true: God is the One and there is none other than him. To love him with all his heart, with all his intelligence, with all his strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is better than any offering of burnt offerings and sacrifices. Jesus, seeing that he had made a judicious remark, said to him: "You are not far from the kingdom of God.
