"Many will come from the east and the west and will take their place with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob"
A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To Matthew (8, 5-17)
At that time, as Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion approached him and begged him: “Lord, my servant is lying at home, paralyzed, and he is in terrible pain. "Jesus said to him:" I will go and heal him myself. The centurion continued: "Lord, I am not worthy that you come under my roof, but only say a word and my servant will be healed. I myself, who am subject to an authority, have soldiers under my orders; to one, I say: “Go”, and he goes; to another: “Come”, and he comes, and to my slave: “Do this”, and he does it. At these words, Jesus was in awe and said to those who followed him: "Truly, I tell you, in no one in Israel I have found such faith. So I say to you: Many will come from east and west and take their places with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob at the feast of the kingdom of heaven, but the sons of the kingdom will be cast into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. "And Jesus said to the centurion:" Go home, may everything happen for you according to your faith. And that very hour the servant was healed.
As Jesus entered Peter's house, in his house, he saw his mother-in-law lying with a fever. He touched her hand, and the fever left her. She stood up and served him.
In the evening, many of the possessed were presented to Jesus. With one word, he expelled the spirits and, all those who were afflicted with an evil, he healed them, so that the word spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: He took our sufferings, he bore our diseases.
