"You are Peter, and I will give you the keys of the kingdom of Heaven" 

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To Matthew (16, 13-19) 

At that time, Jesus, who arrived in the region of Caesarea-Philippi, asked his disciples: "According to the people, who is the Son of man? "They answered:" For some, John the Baptist; for others, Elijah; for still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets. "Jesus asked them:" And you, what are you saying? Who am I for you? Then Simon Peter spoke up and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God!" "Speaking in his turn, Jesus said to him:" Happy are you, Simon son of Yonas: it is not flesh and blood which have revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. And I tell you: You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church; and the power of Death will not prevail over it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven: whatever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. "
