MASS READINGS, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 9, 2021 General Week 10

FIRST READING

"He has enabled us to be the ministers of a new Covenant, founded not on the letter but in the Spirit"

A Reading from the second letter of Saint Paul the apostle to the Corinthians (3, 4-11)
Brothers, if we have such confidence in God through Christ, it is not because of a personal capacity that we could attribute to ourselves: our capacity comes from God. He has made us capable of being the ministers of a new Covenant, founded not on the letter but in the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. The ministry of death, that of the Law engraved in letters on stones, already had such glory that the children of Israel could not fix the face of Moses because of the glory, however fleeting, which shone from his face. . How much greater then will be the glory of the ministry of the Spirit! The ministry which brought about condemnation, that of the Law, was already radiant with glory; how much greater will be the glory of the ministry which makes us righteous! No, really, what, to a certain extent was glorious no longer, because there is now incomparable glory. If, in fact, that which was fleeting has known a moment of glory, how much more will that which remains remain in glory!
