"Isaac loved Rebecca and consoled himself for the death of his mother"

A Reading from the book of Genesis (23, 1-4. 19; 24, 1-8. 62-67)
Sarah lived one hundred and twenty-seven years. She died in Kiriath-Arba, that is, in Hebron, in the land of Canaan. Abraham went there for mourning and lamentation. Then he left the body to go talk to the Hittites who lived in the country: “I am only an immigrant, a guest, among you; grant me to acquire from you a funeral property where I can bury this dead woman. Abraham buried his wife Sarah in the cave of the field of Macpelah, which is opposite Mambre, that is, in Hebron, in the land of Canaan. Abraham was old and advanced in years, and the Lord had blessed him in everything. Abraham said to the oldest servant of his house, the steward of all his goods: "I make you swear an oath by the Lord, God of heaven and God of earth: you shall not take for my son a wife among the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose midst I dwell. But you will go to my country, to my relatives, to look for a wife for my son Isaac. The servant asked him, "What if this woman does not agree to follow me to come here?" Should I then bring your son back to the country you came from? Abraham replied, "Take care not to bring my son back there!" The Lord, the God of heaven, who took me from my father's house and from my kinship land, sworn to me: “To your descendants I will give this land.” It is he who will send his angel before you, and you will take a bride there for my son. If this woman does not agree to follow you, you will be released from the oath that I impose on you. But, in any case, you will not bring my son back. "One day, Isaac was returning from the well of Lahaï-Roï. He was then living in the Negev. He had gone out at nightfall to take a walk in the country, when, looking up, he saw camels arriving. Rebecca, also looking up, saw Isaac. She jumped off her camel and said to the servant, "Who is this man who comes into the country to meet us?" "The servant replied," He is my master. So she took her veil and covered it. The servant told Isaac all that he had done. Isaac brought Rebecca into her mother Sarah's tent; he married her, she became his wife, and he loved her. And Isaac consoled himself for the death of his mother. looking up too, saw Isaac.
