📖GOSPEL

"It is not Moses, it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven"

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To John (6, 30-35)
At that time, the crowd said to Jesus, "What sign will you perform that we can see it, and believe you?" What work are you going to do? In the desert, our fathers ate the manna; as the Scriptures say: He gave them bread from heaven to eat. Jesus answered them: "Amen, amen, I say to you: it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven; it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. "They said to him then:" Lord, always give us of this bread. "Jesus answered them:" I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry; whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. "

FIRST READING

"Lord Jesus, receive my spirit"

A Reading from the book of Acts of the Apostles (7, 51 - 8, 1a)
In those days, Stephen said to the people, to the elders and to the scribes: “You who have a stiff neck, you whose hearts and ears are closed to the Covenant, you have always resisted the Holy Spirit; you are just like your fathers! Is there a prophet your fathers did not persecute? They even killed those who announced in advance the coming of the Just One, the one you have now delivered and murdered. You who had received the law by order of the angels, you did not keep it. Those who listened to this speech had an exasperated heart and gritted their teeth against Etienne. But he, filled with the Holy Spirit, stared at the sky: he saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. He said: “Behold, I behold the heavens open and the Son of man standing at the right hand of God. So they cried out loudly and covered their ears. All together they rushed at him, dragged him out of the city, and began to stone him. The witnesses laid their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul. Stephen, while he was being stoned, prayed thus: “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. Then, falling on his knees, he cried out in a loud voice, "Lord, do not count this sin against them. And, after this word, he fell asleep in death. he cried out in a loud voice, “Lord, do not count this sin against them. And, after this word, he fell asleep in death. he cried out in a loud voice, “Lord, do not count this sin against them. And, after this word, he fell asleep in death.
As for Saul, he approved of this murder.

📖GOSPEL

"Work not for the food that is wasted, but for the food that remains into eternal life"

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To John (6, 22-29)
Jesus had satisfied five thousand men, and his disciples had seen him walking on the sea. The next day, the crowd on the other side realized that there had been only one boat there, and that Jesus had not gone up there with his disciples, who had left without him. However, other boats, coming from Tiberias, had arrived near the place where the bread had been eaten after the Lord had given thanks.
When the crowd saw that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples, the people got into the boats and went to Capernaum in search of Jesus. Finding him on the other side, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you get here? Jesus answered them, "Amen, amen, I say to you: you are looking for me, not because you have seen signs, but because you have eaten of these loaves and have been satisfied. Work not for the food that is wasted, but for the food that remains until eternal life, that which the Son of Man will give you, whom God the Father has marked with his seal. They said to him, "What must we do to work on the works of God?" Jesus answered them, "The work of God is that you believe on him whom he sent. "

Respons : Happy are those who walk according to the law of the Lord! OR Hallelujah!

Psalm 118 (119)

When great men accuse your servant,
I meditate on your orders.
I find my pleasure in your requirements:
they are the ones who advise me. R

I enumerate my ways: you answer me;
teach me your commandments.
Show me the way of your precepts,
which I meditate on your wonders. R

Turn me away from the path of lying,
make me the grace of your law.
I have chosen the path of fidelity,
I adjust to your decisions. R

"They could not resist the wisdom and the Spirit which made him speak"

A Reading from the book of Acts of the Apostles (6, 8-15)
In those days Stephen, filled with the grace and power of God, performed wonders and dazzling signs among the people. Then intervened some people from the synagogue called the Freedoms, as well as Cyreneans and Alexandrians, and also people from Cilicia and the province of Asia. They began to argue with Stephen, but could not resist the wisdom and the Spirit which made him speak. So they bribed men to say, "We heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God." They stirred up the people, the elders and the scribes, and seizing Stephen unexpectedly, brought him before the Supreme Council. They produced false witnesses, who said: “This individual never ceases to utter words against the Holy Place and against the Law. We heard him say that this Jesus, the Nazarene, would destroy the holy place and change the customs that Moses passed on to us. All who sat on the Supreme Council had their eyes fixed on Stephen, and they saw that his face was like that of an angel.
