"God sent his Son that through him the world may be saved" 

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To John (3, 14-21) 

At that time, Jesus said to Nicodemus: "As the bronze serpent was lifted up by Moses in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up, that in him every man who believes have eternal life. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in him will not be lost, but obtain eternal life. For God sent his Son into the world, not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him escapes Judgment, whoever does not believe is already judged, because he did not believe in the name of the Only Begotten of God. And Judgment, here it is: light came into the world, and men preferred darkness to light, because their works were evil. He who does evil hates light: he does not come to the light, lest his works be denounced; but he who does the truth comes to the light, so that it may be manifested that his works were done in union with God. "
