"Immediately the man was healed" 

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To John (5, 1-16) 

On the occasion of a Jewish holiday, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. However, in Jerusalem, near the Sheep Gate, there is a swimming pool which in Hebrew is called Bethzatha. It has five colonnades, under which lay a crowd of sick, blind, lame and helpless. There was a man there that had been sick thirty-eight years. Jesus, seeing him lying there, and hearing that he had been in this condition for a long time, said to him: “Do you want to be healed? The patient replied: "Lord, I have no one to plunge me into the pool when the water is boiling; and while I go, another descends before me. "Jesus said to him:" Get up, take your stretcher, and walk. And immediately the man was healed. He took his stretcher: he was walking! Now that day was a Sabbath day. The Jews therefore said to this man whom Jesus had restored to his feet: “It is the Sabbath! You are not allowed to carry your stretcher. He replied: "The one who healed me, it was he who said to me: 'Take your stretcher and walk!' They asked him: "Who is the man who said to you, 'Take your stretcher and walk'? But the one who had been restored did not know who it was; in fact, Jesus had moved away, for there was a crowd there.

Later, Jesus finds him in the Temple and says to him: “Here you are healed. Stop sinning, something worse could happen to you. The man went to tell the Jews that it was Jesus who had healed him. And these persecuted Jesus because he had done this on the Sabbath day.
