A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To Mark (12, 13-17) 

At that time, Pharisees and followers of Herod were sent to Jesus to set a trap for him by making him speak, and they came to say to him: “Master, we know that you are always true; you do not allow yourself to be influenced by anyone, for it is not according to appearance that you regard people, but you teach the way of God according to the truth. Is it permissible, yes or no, to pay the tax to Caesar, the emperor? Do we have to pay, yes or no? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them: "Why do you want to test me? Show me a silver coin. "They brought one, and Jesus said to them," Whose image and this inscription are they? "From Caesar," they reply. Jesus said to them, "What is Caesar's, give back to Caesar, and to God what is God 's."
