"It was decided that they would go up to Jerusalem with the Apostles and the Elders to discuss this question"
A Reading from the book of Acts of the Apostles (15, 1-6)
In those days, people from Judea to Antioch were teaching the brethren saying, “If you do not accept circumcision according to the custom that comes from Moses, you cannot be saved. This provoked a confrontation as well as a lively discussion initiated by Paul and Barnabas against these people. So it was decided that Paul and Barnabas, along with a few other brethren, would go up to Jerusalem to the Apostles and Elders to discuss this matter. The Church of Antioch facilitated their journey. They passed through Phenicia and Samaria recounting the conversion of the nations, which filled all the brothers with joy. When they arrived in Jerusalem, they were greeted by the Church, the Apostles and the Elders, and they reported all that God had done with them. Then a few members of the group of Pharisees who had become believers intervened to say that the Gentiles should be circumcised and ordered to keep the law of Moses. The Apostles and the Elders met to consider this matter.
The Word of the Lord.
