GOSPEL
"They distributed the bread to the guests as much as they wanted"
Alleluia. Alleluia.
A great prophet arose among us:
and God visited his people.
Alleluia. (Lk 7:16)
Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 6 : 1-15
At that time,
Jesus passed across the Sea of Galilee,
the Lake of Galilee.
A large crowd followed him,
because they had seen the signs
he performed on the sick.
Jesus went up the mountain,
and there he was sitting with his disciples.
Now, the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was near.
Jesus looked up
and saw that a large crowd was coming to him.
He said to Philip:
“Where can we buy bread
so that they have something to eat? "
He said this to the test,
because he knew him, what he would do.
Philippe answered him:
“The salary of two hundred days would not be enough
for everyone to receive a little bread. "
One of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, said:
" There is a boy here who has five barley loaves
and two fish,
but what are these for so many people! "
Jesus said,
" Make the people sit down. "
There was a lot of grass there.
So they sat down, numbering about five thousand men.
Then Jesus took the loaves
and, after giving thanks,
he distributed them to the guests;
he also gave them fish, as
much as they wanted.
When they had eaten their fill,
he said to his disciples,
"Gather the excess pieces together,
so that nothing is lost." "
They gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets
with the fragments of the five barley loaves,
remained in surplus for those taking this food.
At the sight of the sign that Jesus had performed,
people said:
“He is truly the announced Prophet, the
one who comes into the world. "
But Jesus knew they were going to take
to make him king their;
then again he withdrew into the mountain,
himself alone.
- Let us acclaim the Word of God.
