பவுல் பேசியதை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளுமாறு ஆண்டவர் அவர் உள்ளத்தைத் திறந்தார்.

திருத்தூதர் பணிகள் நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 16: 11-15

பவுல், சீலா, திமொத்தேயு, லூக்கா ஆகிய நாங்கள் துரோவாவிலிருந்து கப்பலேறிச் சமொத்திராக்கு தீவுக்கும், மறு நாள் நெயாப்பொலி நகருக்கும் நேராகச் சென்றோம்; அங்கிருந்து மாசிதோனியப் பகுதியின் முக்கிய நகரான பிலிப்பி சென்றோம். அது உரோமையரின் குடியேற்ற நகரம். அந்நகரில் சில நாள்கள் தங்கியிருந்தோம். ஓய்வுநாளன்று நாங்கள் நகர வாயிலுக்கு வெளியே வந்து ஆற்றங்கரைக்குச் சென்றோம். அங்கு இறைவேண்டல் செய்யும் இடம் ஏதேனும் இருக்கும் என்று எண்ணி அமர்ந்து, அங்கே கூடியிருந்த பெண்களோடு பேசினோம்.

அங்குத் தியத்திரா நகரைச் சேர்ந்த பெண் ஒருவர் நாங்கள் பேசியதைக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தார். அவர் பெயர் லீதியா. செந்நிற ஆடைகளை விற்பவரான அவர் கடவுளை வழிபட்டுவந்தார். பவுல் பேசியதை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளுமாறு ஆண்டவர் அவர் உள்ளத்தைத் திறந்தார். அவரும் அவர் வீட்டாரும் திருமுழுக்குப் பெற்றனர். அதன்பின் அவர் எங்களிடம், “நான் ஆண்டவரிடம் நம்பிக்கை கொண்டவள் என்று நீங்கள் கருதினால் என் வீட்டுக்கு வந்து தங்குங்கள்” என்று கெஞ்சிக் கேட்டு எங்களை இணங்கவைத்தார்.

And you too will bear testimony, for you have been with me from the beginning. I am speaking to you thus, so that you will not be scandalized. You will be excluded from meetings. Moreover, the hour is coming when all those who kill you will imagine that they are worshiping God. They will do this, because they have not known the Father or me. Now, here's why I'm telling you this: When the time is right, you'll remember that I told you. "

her attentive to what Paul was saying" 

A Reading from the book of Acts of the Apostles (16, 11-15) 

With Paul, from Troas we reached the open sea and headed straight for the island of Samothrace, then, the next day, on Neapolis, and then on Philippi, which is a city in the first district of Macedonia and a Roman colony. We spent some time in this city and on the Sabbath we walked through the gate to reach the riverside, where we thought we would find a place of prayer. We sat down, and we talked to the women who had gathered. One of them named Lydia, a purple cloth trader from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped the one God, was listening. The Lord opened her mind to make her attentive to what Paul was saying. When she was baptized, she and all the people of her household, she addressed this invitation to us: “If you have recognized my faith in the Lord, therefore come to my house to stay there. This is how she forced our hand.

இயேசு தம் சீடரை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “என் தந்தை என் மீது அன்பு கொண்டுள்ளது போல நானும் உங்கள்மீது அன்பு கொண்டுள்ளேன். என் அன்பில் நிலைத்திருங்கள். நான் என் தந்தையின் கட்டளைகளைக் கடைப்பிடித்து அவரது அன்பில் நிலைத்திருப்பது போல நீங்களும் என் கட்டளைகளைக் கடைப்பிடித்தால் என் அன்பில் நிலைத்திருப்பீர்கள். என் மகிழ்ச்சி உங்களுள் இருக்கவும் உங்கள் மகிழ்ச்சி நிறைவு பெறவுமே இவற்றை உங்களிடம் சொன்னேன்.

அன்பார்ந்தவர்களே, ஒருவர் மற்றவரிடம் அன்பு செலுத்துவோமாக! ஏனெனில் அன்பு கடவுளிடமிருந்து வருகிறது. அன்பு செலுத்தும் அனைவரும் கடவுளிடமிருந்து பிறந்தவர்கள். அவர்கள் கடவுளை அறிந்துள்ளார்கள். அன்பில்லாதோர் கடவுளை அறிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை; ஏனெனில், கடவுள் அன்பாய் இருக்கிறார். நாம் வாழ்வு பெறும் பொருட்டுக் கடவுள் தம் ஒரே மகனை உலகிற்கு அனுப்பினார். இதனால் கடவுள் நம்மீது வைத்த அன்பு வெளிப்பட்டது. நாம் கடவுள்மீது அன்பு கொண்டுள்ளோம் என்பதில் அல்ல, மாறாக அவர் நம்மீது அன்பு கொண்டு தம் மகனை நம் பாவங்களுக்குக் கழுவாயாக அனுப்பினார் என்பதில்தான் அன்பின் தன்மை விளங்குகிறது.

அந்நாள்களில்

கொர்னேலியு பேதுருவை எதிர்கொண்டு போய் அவர் காலில் விழுந்து வணங்கினார். பேதுரு, “எழுந்திடும்; நானும் ஒரு மனிதன்தான்” என்று கூறி அவரை எழுப்பினார். அப்போது பேதுரு பேசத் தொடங்கி, “கடவுள் ஆள்பார்த்துச் செயல்படுவதில்லை என்பதை நான் உண்மையாகவே உணர்கிறேன். எல்லா இனத்தவரிலும் அவருக்கு அஞ்சி நடந்து நேர்மையாகச் செயல்படுபவரே அவருக்கு ஏற்புடையவர்” என்றார்.

பேதுரு தொடர்ந்து பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கும்போது அவருடைய சொற்களைக் கேட்ட அனைவர்மீதும் தூய ஆவி இறங்கிவந்தது. பேதுருவோடு வந்திருந்த விருத்தசேதனத்தில் நம்பிக்கையுடையோர் தூய ஆவியின் கொடை பிற இனத்தவர்மீதும் பொழியப்பட்டதைக் கண்டு மலைத்துப் போயினர்; ஏனென்றால் அவர்கள் பரவசப் பேச்சுப் பேசிக் கடவுளைப் போற்றிப் பெருமைப்படுத்தியதைக் கண்டார்கள். பேதுரு, “நம்மைப் போலத் தூய ஆவியைப் பெற்றுக்கொண்ட இவர்கள் தண்ணீரால் திருமுழுக்குப் பெறுவதை யார் தடுக்க முடியும்?” என்று கூறி, இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் பெயரால் அவர்களுக்குத் திருமுழுக்குக் கொடுக்கப் பணித்தார். பின்பு அவர்கள் சில நாள் தங்களுடன் தங்கியிருக்குமாறு அவரிடம் வேண்டினார்கள்.

"There is no greater love than to give your life for those you love" 

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To John (15, 9-17) 

At that time, Jesus was saying to his disciples: “As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, as I have kept my Father's commandments, and I abide in his love. I told you this so that my joy might be in you, and your joy might be perfect. My commandment is this: Love one another as I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down your life for those you love. You are my friends if you do as I command you. I no longer call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; I call you my friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. It was not you who chose me, it is I who have chosen you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, and your fruit to endure. So, whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you. " God is love " 

Reading from the first letter of Saint John (4, 7-10) 

Beloved, let us love one another, since love comes from God. He who loves is born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love has not known God, for God is love. This is how the love of God is manifested among us: God sent his only begotten Son into the world that we might live through him. This is what love consists of: it is not we who loved God, but he who loved us, and he sent his Son as a forgiveness sacrifice for our sins.
