📖GOSPEL
“He strongly forbade them to speak of him. Thus was to be fulfilled the word of Isaiah ”
A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To Matthew (12, 14-21)
At that time,
after leaving the synagogue,
the Pharisees gathered in council against Jesus
to see how to destroy him.
Jesus, having heard of it, withdrew from there;
many people followed him, and he healed them all.
But he strongly forbade them
to speak of him.
Thus was to be fulfilled
the word spoken by the prophet Isaiah:
Here is my servant whom I have chosen,
my beloved in whom I find my happiness.
I will make my Spirit rest on him;
he will make judgment known to the nations.
He will not seek a quarrel, he will not cry,
his voice will not be heard in public places.
He will not crush the crumpled reed,
nor will he quench the weakening wick,
until he has made judgment triumph.
The nations will put their hope in his name.
- Let us acclaim the Word of God.
